I created an installation which portrays a “campsite” containing different symbolic elements. The tent, the scenic view, the bonfire and the signs. Through the campsite symbol I have chosen to delve into themes of identity, or specifically – an absence of identity. An identity “uprooting”‘, misplacement from one’s homeland, one’s native tongue, memory and journey. My starting point for the project was my personal narrative and the end point was a global point of view regarding a universal state of being which relates closely to my generation. The different facades of the installation display images and scenes that are situated between the superficial to the profound, the real to the illusionary, the familiar to the alien, the symbolic to the personal.
